2013 Inaugurated “Africana Studies Presents” guest lecture series, with the first lecture on “Global and Transnational Terrorism” presented by Dr Chima Korieh of Marquette University, Milwaukee, and attended by 80 BGSU students, faculty and staff.

2012 Organized and Invited Prof Ihechukwu Madubuike, former Nigerian Minister of Education, for an Informal Discussion with the campus community, April 19, 2012.

 

2011 Organized/chaired the Inaugural Session of the History Undergraduate Research Symposium which encourages students to present their works in a formal forum. Instructors sponsor their best students to revise and present their fine papers.

 

2011 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship (FLTA) in Swahili. Introduced and sustained foreign language instruction in Swahili for Africana Studies and GREAL offered annually through the Fulbright Foundation and US State Department. In the past four years (2005-2011), I have received Fulbright grants for three Swahili instructors from Tanzania – Mr Juma Rioba, Ms. Elihaika Kesi, Ms Happiness Constantine, and Ms Anita Karugila.

 

2008 – Organizing the Annual Africana Studies Undergraduate Research Conference, from 2008 to date.

 

2006 – Chaired History Sub-Committee of the Undergraduate Committee for Review of the Guidelines for HIST 151 and 152 relating to course content, chronological issues, and sources for both courses to serve as reference guide for instructor teaching both courses.

 

2005 Revised Contemporary Africa course for online delivery. This course is now regularly offered in summer and cross-listed in History and Ethnic Studies departments.

 

2004 Presenter, History Teaching Forum on Student Engagement in Imperialism and Industrialization, organized by Professor Ed. Danziger

 

2004 Revised the HIST 151: Modern World course for delivery as a new Values Course, College of Arts and Sciences.
